Iridotomy and Trabeculoplasty
Laser iridotomy and laser trabeculoplasty are performed in our office.
What to Expect
It is possible to drive yourself to this appointment, although your vision may be slightly blurry afterward and the eye may feel scratchy. Having a driver may make you feel more comfortable.
Before the Procedure
There are no restrictions prior to performing the laser procedure.
After the Procedure
There are no restrictions after the laser procedure. You may experience a mild headache, for which Tylenol may be recommended. The doctor may give you topical lubricating drops.
Vision may be blurred for a few hours to a day after the procedure.
YAG Capsulotomy
Following cataract surgery, the capsule that held the original natural lens is intentionally left in place to support and center the new artificial lens.
In some patients, perhaps as many as one-third, this capsule becomes cloudy over time. This may occur months, years, or even decades after the original cataract surgery.
If the capsule becomes cloudy and affects vision, clarity can often be restored with a quick and typically painless laser procedure called a YAG capsulotomy.
