Laser Procedures

In office laser procedures done by Dr. Sokol and Dr. Cervantes include laser iridotomy and laser trabeculoplasty for glaucoma and yag capsulotomy for secondary cataracts.

Procedure Description: Iridotomy and Trabeculoplasty

What To Expect:
Laser procedures are performed in our office. It is possible to drive yourself to this appointment although your vision may be slightly blurry afterward and the eye may feel scratchy. Having a driver may make you feel more comfortable.

Preprocedure:
There are NO restrictions prior to performing the laser.

Postprocedure:
There are NO restrictions after the laser procedure. You may experience a mild headache for which Tylenol is recommended. The doctor may give you topical lubricating drops. Vision will be blurred for a few hours to a day after the procedure.

Procedure Description: Yag Capsulotomy – Following cataract extract the capsule that held the original lens or cataract is left on purpose. The reason is to accommodate and center the new artificial lens. In some patients, perhaps as many as a third, this capsule clouds over time. This can occur months, years or decades after the original surgery. If it does vision can easily or painlessly restored via a laser procedure called yag capsulotomy.
